Giving Selfishly

On a Sunny Monday Afternoon.... we meet our heroine.
(good news for me, the hero/heroine usually survives the story... usually...)
'
A few hours later...

combine this...

and this...

and you get this...

Our Heroine's alter EGO...

The thing is, I don't really feel like I did some kind of selfless act.  I mean, as the stylist was cutting the pony tail (with a little cuss word and trembling hand and 900 "are you sure?"s) I felt like it was a sacrifice.  But now, the truth?

 I love it.

...and I get the added pleasure of knowing that 14 inches of hair goes to a child who needs it more than I need a ponytail.

Yet another reason that I either GO BIG... or GO HOME....
or in this case, nearly to my friend Mustang Sally's home, because H?... well, why don't I just phrase it this way?:
He does not appreciate the sacrifice.
Somewhere along the way, I guess he was thinking this was his hair... where I always knew it belonged to someone else.

I love it. I have to laugh at H's attitude. Every time I cut my hair short (and we're getting close to that again), my husband just sighs.

Oh H...why do you feel that way? I usually cut mine short once every other year. (short like Pixie short) My H actually likes it:) I think that you look amazing. Good for you and for the lucky little kid that gets your hair. xoxo!

L*O*V*E!!! When I chopped mine off last year and donated it, I was so happy knowing it was going to go to some little ginger girl that might never have lucked out and gotten a ginger wig. Kuddo's to you and honestly, you look HOTTT with the shorter hair! Rock that do girl!

yayayayayayay! so amazing you did this. i did it 2 years ago and the experience surprised me. it was wonderful to know that i was giving my hair to someone who needed it. i did it in the summer so lopping off all that hair during high heat and humidity felt good to me. super-short hair is liberating in so many ways. i was surprised by how i felt though. it was "out of my comfort zone" to be walking around with such little hair on my head...and it forced me to really see myself and not try to "hide" behind my hair. i think you look beautiful and it really is fantastic that you did this!

A wonderful way to give! I'm ready to have mine cut again.

My Hubbs would be happy for the change and not having to wait while I fussed with my pain in the butt curly/fuzz-mess-head of hair!

Nice job. Hair cut looks great! I've donated to Locks of Love and the second time I cut my hair wayyyy short-my hubby didn't like it either!

So selfless. I like your short hair, it makes you look more grown up.

Oh, I LOVE it & it looks wonderful! I recently cut my hair short for the first time since senior year of high school (um, yeah, 24 years ago). Although my hair was not nearly long enough to donate to Locks of Love, my daughter donates her hair every 2 years. It's a wonderful way to give!

You look great! I've donated hair before but always when I had enough to not go quite that short. It makes me nervous, but maybe I should just go for it. It will always grow back if I don't like it, right?

I think you look amazing!! I have wanted to do this but never seem to get my hair long enough before I want to cut it.

AND FYI a part of giving may always end up being just a tinged selfish because it WILL make you feel good :)
