Never, NEVER taunt the running gods two days before your race

Yesterday I went for a run.

I went for a run after I wrote the words, "What else could happen?".


Just needed to clarify.

3 miles into my run I found myself laying on the side walk.  Knees, wrist and elbow bleeding.  I was thinking to myself, "Self.  What did we learn today?"

possible options included, "don't run alone."  "replace the battery in your headlamp." and "avoid uneven sidewalks."

But I think the lesson du jour was, "NEVER, NEVER taunt the running gods two days before your race."

I'm a bit sore today.  Mostly through the arm, shoulder and hip joints.  I'm fine, no permanent damage or anything.  I just feel a bit stupid.....

I see you fulfilled one of the requirements in my art of falling list - within five days of a race. I usually tell myself not to run on trails before a race, because I am guaranteed to trip. However, I think I will add no running in the dark too. :)

Seriously, though, I am sorry you fell, and I hope you are starting to feel better already! Good luck on the race!

Sorry you fell...that is never the way to rock a run. Since I do most of my running in the dark, I can relate to the benefits of a fully powered headlamp, and I tend to completely avoid sidewalks unless there is simply no other choice.

As long as you learnt something from the experience.

But really, I hope you're not too damaged. A little skin off is okay but nothing more than that and injured pride would be best. Heal quick!

ah man, G. Sounds like the last thing you needed!! I've ended up on my face before on a run and it is definitely, ummm....humbling! feel your pain. Hang in there.

I'm sorry, but I had to laugh at this one. LOL SHAME ON ME for laughing at a friend's pain, but I'm just now catching up on blogs, and when I read the closing line of your last post, I thought to myself, "Oh no she didn't just go there."

So now I'm laughing. But only because I know you're okay. :)
